About The Position

Make a Difference as a Team Leader with Pro Deo. Join Pro Deo’s after school program and be part of a mission-driven Youth Center that serves eastern Jackson County, primarily the suburb of Lee’s Summit. Pro Deo provides activities, tutoring, and counseling to help teens grow into productive adults while enjoying their teen years in a safe and fun environment. In 2024, Pro Deo entered into an agreement with ReDiscover, a non-profit community mental health center in southeastern Jackson County, Missouri. The mission is to deliver efficient and cost-effective treatment for the people they serve. Pro Deo helps make up ReDiscover’s diverse team of over 800 employees who are “Passionate About People” while serving our community, specifically those whose lives have been affected by a mental illness or substance use. Our after school program creates a safe and nurturing environment for teens, while offering guidance, mentorship, and executing educational and recreational activities. This role aims to empower teens, promote personal development, and foster positive relationships.

Requirements

  • Availability to work a Full time schedule (40 hours a week) 8:30-5, Monday through Friday. Some flexibility needed for Friday evening community outings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, education, counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid Missouri Class E driver’s license (or equivalent license issued by another U.S. state) is required; must meet ReDiscover’s safe driving requirement and guidelines of agency’s driving criteria (i.e. proof of liability insurance and functional vehicle) and maintain these as per ReDiscover policy at all times.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as the use of email.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervisory responsibilities including supervision of assigned department staff based upon the needs of the program. This includes ongoing follow-up, coaching, professional development, and performance management as appropriate.
  • Participates in evaluating and developing employees with the purpose of enhancing departmental and program performance.
  • Actively participates in the assigned employees’ lifecycle, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, retention, and all other functions to foster and support employee success.
  • Creates and maintains a culture that fosters development, coaching, and training opportunities as they arise to continue to support a youth development and customer service focus. This includes providing regular supervision to assigned staff and collaboration with Program Director/Executive Director regarding staff development.
  • Arranges, plans, and facilitates weekly staff meetings to support communication, training, program consistency, and staff development.
  • Communicates and collaborates with internal leadership and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordination of services, staff alignment, and positive program outcomes, including participation in leadership and program meetings.
  • May help coverage to transport students from school to Pro Deo building in Lee's Summit using 15 passenger company van.
