About The Position

The Training Lead serves as the primary coordinator and technical lead for the Virginia Natural Gas Operations Training Team. This position provides day-to-day leadership, work coordination, coaching, and guidance to field trainers and instructional design resources while remaining actively engaged in training delivery, curriculum development, Operator Qualification (OQ) program support, and workforce readiness initiatives. Directly oversees Field Trainers and provides dotted-line, functional oversight to the Instructional Designer in support of curriculum development and training initiatives. This is a working leadership role with limited supervisory authority. The incumbent leads through influence, collaboration, and subject matter expertise while maintaining direct responsibility for training delivery, curriculum modifications input, qualification program support, and continuous improvement efforts. The Training Lead serves as a key liaison among Operations, Safety, Compliance, and Training stakeholders to ensure workforce readiness, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in operations training, technical training, learning and development, workforce development, or a related field.
  • Experience delivering instructor-led and/or field-based technical training.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or maintaining training curriculum.
  • Demonstrated formal or informal leadership experience leading projects, initiatives, teams, or work groups.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and learning technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Learning Technologies, Business, or related field.
  • Experience supporting Operator Qualification (OQ) programs.
  • Experience in natural gas operations, utility operations, safety, compliance, or workforce qualification programs.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and performance-based training methodologies.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning technologies.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory and compliance requirements impacting gas operations training.
