About The Position

The Manufacturing Team Leader is responsible for directing daily production activities, supporting operators, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. This position acts as the primary point of contact between production employees and management and plays a key role in training, coaching, and motivating team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Team Leader works hands-on alongside employees while monitoring workflow, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years manufacturing experience
  • 1+ year leadership, lead, or trainer experience
  • Ability to read work instructions and basic production documents
  • Basic computer skills (email, production tracking systems, data entry)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Experience in automotive
  • Forklift certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Identify and correct all unsafe behavior and ensure compliance to Safety policies
  • Lead and coordinate daily production activities to meet schedule requirements
  • Assign work to operators based on staffing and production demands
  • Monitor line performance, downtime, scrap, and efficiency
  • Ensure proper machine operation and adherence to work instructions and process control plans
  • Perform changeovers and assist with machine setups when needed
  • Communicate production priorities and shift goals to employees
  • Escalate equipment or material issues to maintenance or supervision
  • Assist with Inventory accuracy at all work centers
  • Participate in Layered Audits as assigned
  • Maintain continuous workflow and minimize downtime
  • Ensure products meet company and customer quality standards
  • Verify employees are following inspection procedures and documentation requirements
  • Address defects, contain non-conforming material, and initiate corrective actions
  • Support audits and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Enforce all safety policies and OSHA requirements
  • Conduct safety checks and report hazards immediately
  • Lead by example with proper PPE and safe work practices
  • Assist with incident investigations and documentation
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas (5S standards)
  • Train and mentor new employees
  • Provide daily coaching, feedback, and performance guidance
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive morale
  • Assist with attendance monitoring and employee documentation
  • Communicate company updates and expectations to staff
  • Help resolve employee concerns and conflicts professionally
  • Complete shift reports and production tracking
  • Monitor labor utilization and staffing coverage
  • Record downtime, scrap, and performance metrics
  • Communicate shift handoff details to the next shift and management
