Team Leader Logistics/Purchasing
About The Position
This role is responsible for a variety of logistics and purchasing functions, including reviewing and processing requisitions, obtaining quotations, analyzing proposals, conducting negotiations, vendor management, and developing contracts. The position also involves managing MRO, Services, and Raw Materials inventories to optimize costs, reconciling Accounts Payable issues, and managing chemical orders and usage for the mill. Additionally, the role includes coordinating with corporate transportation, managing car orders for specific materials, conducting month-end inventory, and serving as a backup for other department positions, potentially with supervisory duties.
Requirements
- BS degree in business, engineering, or supply management related major
- Five years’ experience in purchasing or related field
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to plan and execute
- Experience in negotiations of large volume procurement contracts
- Computer skills a must

Responsibilities
- Reviewing and processing requisitions
- Obtaining quotations
- Conducting analysis of proposals

- Maintaining knowledge of and selecting vendors
- Developing and implementing blanket orders and contracts
- Monitoring vendor total quality
- Determining appropriate inventories to assure optimum total costs in the MRO, Services and/or Raw Materials area
- Reconciliation of related Accounts Payable issues
- Managing and ordering chemicals for the mill
- Manage/prepare usage schedules for various chemicals utilizing in the mill
- Manage/maintain chemical hose inventory and acid filters
- Work with corporate transportation Northfork Southern, NS to establish new routes
- Coordinate with NS to order cars and discuss issues
- Manage ordering cars for tall oil and turpentine cars
- Conduct month end inventory and submit report to accounting
- Serves as back-up to other department positions
- May be assigned supervisory or additional procurement duties as required
