Reporting to the Plainville, MA site and supporting the Viral Vector Services (VVS), a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. At VVS, we deliver from process development through commercial supply, offering the expertise and resources vital to help clients deliver innovative gene therapies. We are placed at the forefront of our leading and groundbreaking Cell and Gene Therapy business, enabling clients to cure genetic, rare, and otherwise untreatable diseases. Discover Impactful Work: As a Team Leader in Formulation Manufacturing at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will guide a skilled team responsible for manufacturing high-quality pharmaceutical and biotechnology products while ensuring compliance with cGMP standards. You will support operational excellence through effective team leadership, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. This role combines technical expertise with people management to deliver important therapies that improve health outcomes. A Day in the Life: You will oversee daily manufacturing operations, coordinate production schedules, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. The position involves supporting team members, troubleshooting equipment and processes, managing documentation, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. You'll work closely with Quality, Engineering, and other departments to maintain robust manufacturing processes and resolve technical challenges. This role offers opportunities to make meaningful contributions to pharmaceutical development and commercial manufacturing while developing your leadership capabilities within an innovative organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 years of pharmaceutical, or biotechnology manufacturing experience in cGMP environment required with a degree
  • 3-4 years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience managing documentation, investigations, and change controls
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and develop manufacturing personnel
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting and process improvement capabilities
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with manufacturing systems, documentation, and Microsoft Office suite
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends/holidays as required
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of cleanroom and aseptic techniques
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety culture and quality compliance
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions
