About The Position

Shape futures as a Dormitory Counselor at the Keystone State Challenge Academy (KSCA)! The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is seeking strong leaders to mentor teenagers who are ready for a fresh start. You will help our cadets stay focused, build confidence, and achieve their goals in a military-style environment. Join us in our mission to guide at-risk youth toward success!

Requirements

Three years of experience in working with school age children (aged 6 to 21) or adults in an organized physical, recreational, educational, or related program; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID.
Pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
Be able to perform essential job functions.
Pass a background investigation.
Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of military customs, courtesies, drills, and ceremonies.
Ability to conduct physical training with cadets.
Knowledge of at-risk teenage population.

Responsibilities

Monitor cadet behavior, offer guidance, and create a safe setting for living and learning.
Lead cadets during scheduled movement, fitness sessions, and group activities on and off campus.
Demonstrate military drills, personal development skills, and maintenance tasks in line with training plans.
Encourage healthy habits, social growth, and constructive decision-making through consistent mentoring.
Respond to emergencies, correct inappropriate actions, and maintain discipline.
Document cadet progress, evaluations, incidents, and daily reports.
