About The Position

Oversee production groups to insure that: set ups, machine operation, tools and equipment such as stamping presses, saws, press brakes, lasers, CNC’s, powder coating operations, assembly operations, and welding operations are functioning in a safe, efficient manner in order to produce quality product on time. This position may require overtime to include weekends. Directly supervises employees on the production team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, conduct performance evaluations, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Three to five years related experience including SPC skills, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Office Word Processing software.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Trained in and follows Company safety policies and procedures and participates in the Continuous Improvement and Corrective Action programs.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, kneel, and/or reach.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

  • Competency in basic ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attends daily production meeting(s) to obtain production schedule and priority.
  • Assigns workers to various stations in the department based on production schedule and production needs.
  • Ensures employees are trained and jobs are set up to begin working.
  • Troubleshoot production quality problems as needed.
  • Adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and accommodate drop-in orders.
  • Audits shipments for next day, ensures product is labeled correctly.
  • Corrects labor and inventory errors as needed.
  • Fills in for operators when absent.
  • Assists supervisor for EOM Inventory counts.
  • Reads job order for product specifications such as rate, material needed etc.
  • Notifies Production Supervisor and Quality department of any concerns; ensures scrap is recorded accurately.
  • Assists Quality in Work Instruction Process.
  • Performs Continuous Improvement walks and recommends improvements to production methods or equipment.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Suggests methods of motivating employees to achieve work goals.
  • Performs weekly 5-S and process audits.
  • Completes paperwork for rejected material/parts and disposition of scrap.
  • Receives backup support from Production Supervisor.
  • Ensure counts, color ID matches swatch, and lengths/parts match cut list or demand.
  • Prints/processes product labeling.
  • Works alongside Team Leaders in other departments to complete plant-wide goals.
  • May be required to work off shifts as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
