About The Position

The Team Lead is a frontline leadership role responsible for supporting and coordinating the day-to-day operations of their assigned department at Axis Pipe and Tube. This position leads and supports team members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations while maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. The Team Lead serves as a working leader who provides guidance, training, oversight, and operational support to achieve departmental goals. Axis Pipe and Tube is committed to helping its partners in the oil and gas industry achieve superior results by supplying premium-quality oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and line pipe products and delivering the service energy companies need. Located in Bryan, Texas, their leading-edge manufacturing facility can produce more than 300,000 tons of electric resistance welded (ERW) OCTG and Line Pipe each year. They use the latest technology and manufacturing techniques to ensure products deliver maximum return on investment while meeting or exceeding the highest safety standards. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Area-specific technical knowledge relevant to assigned department.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), quality standards, and company policies.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and coordinate multiple activities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) and ability to learn company systems (e.g., SAP or other operational software).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Supervisor/Manager in coordinating daily departmental operations.
  • Lead and participate in daily meetings, including safety discussions and performance reviews.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with safety policies, environmental regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to operational and quality requirements.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate team members, including new hires and transfers.
  • Provide hands-on operational support and fill in for team members as needed.
  • Ensure accurate completion of required documentation, reports, and system entries (e.g., production, maintenance, safety, quality, downtime, or related systems).
  • Monitor equipment, processes, and work areas to identify and address safety, quality, maintenance, or operational improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in audits, inspections, investigations, and corrective actions as required.
  • Support preventive maintenance, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., TPM, 5S, efficiency projects).
  • Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and cross-functional departments.
  • Ensure team members have the proper tools, training, and resources to perform their duties.
  • Complete additional assignments as directed by management.
