About The Position

Millerbernd Manufacturing is seeking a Team Lead to provide tactical leadership to an assigned team in the fabrication and manufacture of products. This role involves ensuring adherence to standard work, manufacturing processes, company core values, and safety standards. The Team Lead will specifically lead a Weekend shift team within the Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Team, with opportunities in Pole Pre-Assembly (Plant 2) for Shaft Production, and Big Pole (Plant 3) for App Weld.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience leading a team in manufacturing or being an informal leader.
  • Ability to perform basic shop math functions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, make decisions and direct action.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing paperwork and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to work well with all employees and earn mutual respect.
  • Ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and easily adapt to change.
  • Effective and appropriate verbal and written communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in metal fabrication.
  • Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings, or demonstrated aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tactical leadership to assigned team in fabrication/manufacture of products.
  • Ensure adherence to standard work and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain company core values and safety standards.
  • Lead Weekend shift team within the Transportation & Infrastructure (T&I) Team.
  • Oversee quality performance of the team.
  • Manage the flow of orders within the team, including material handling.
  • Engage the team and participate in team member selection.
  • Train and cross-train team members in accordance with work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Support material handling for the team.
  • Act as a trainer for the area or identify and ensure training of new hires is conducted satisfactorily.
  • Lead Tier 1 meetings with direct reports.
  • Accountable for meeting production and quality requirements for the group.
  • Plan daily activities and manage team vacancies.
  • Monitor team performance and provide verbal feedback, escalating for written documentation to the Supervisor.
  • Promote a positive team environment and drive inclusion.
  • Act as the first line of escalation for employee needs.
  • Communicate organization priorities and policies, providing clarity as necessary.
  • Complete timecards, write performance reviews, and provide input on compensation.
  • Complete maintenance or facilities requests when needed.
  • Be a safety champion on and off the production floor.
  • Wear and ensure all team members wear proper PPE.
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies.
  • Train new hires on emergency preparedness expectations.
  • Establish and sustain a safe and hazard-free workplace.
  • Participate in safety recognition at Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings.
  • Report and investigate safety incidents and near misses, providing updates during Tier 2 meetings.
  • Inform team members of safety updates, processes/procedures, and policy changes.
  • Onboard new hires specific to their role(s) and safety expectations.
  • Complete all safety trainings.
  • Complete one (1) CI Safety Card/month.
  • Complete OSHA 10 Hour.
  • Monitor completion of actions from the Safety Champion each week and provide updates during Tier 1 meetings.
