About The Position

The Team Leader is accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. They support and investigate situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk. Responsibilities are completed in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws. The Team Leader is actively involved in risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks. They review product quality communicating with Quality Assurance. Upon consultation with Quality Assurance and Production Manager or Supervisor, they determine when product needs to be scrapped or placed on hold for higher level review/action. With direction from the Supervisor, they assist in preparing staffing plans to ensure adequate coverage on all machines for scheduled production and work with the Supervisor to set production goals. The Team Leader ensures that equipment runs according to the instructions/specifications on the production schedule, product boards, and process specifications (i.e., correct resin, additives, packaging, line speed, temperature) and notifies Maintenance of any equipment related issues. They communicate with the Supervisor to resolve problems. Part handling requirements include inspections, hot stamping, handle installation, gasket installation, and packing per instructions. This includes inspection of product, verification of pull-apart, stacking product onto tray packs, labeling and documentation of finished product and transfer from presses to staging for shrink wrap. The Team Leader is responsible for maintaining production supplies such as bags, gaskets, handles, labels, tray packs, and TPI’s. They exhibit leadership skills, develop and apply training skills, use problem-solving abilities to handle situations that may arise in the workplace, motivate and communicate with Packer Handlers and Machines Operators, and alert Mold Techs and Shift Supervisor of safety, quality, machine, raw material, packaging, documentation or production concerns. The Team Leader will be able to perform all functions of the Packer Handler and Machines Operators positions and perform those roles as needed to meet production requirements. Any other tasks as assigned.
