Your Impact As the Team Lead, Warehouse at our Smithers warehouse, you ensure that all materials moving through the warehouse are received, stored, and issued safely, accurately, and efficiently. Your leadership keeps inventory reliable, supports smooth operations across site, and strengthens compliance with all HSE standards. Through strong coordination, clear communication, and daily oversight, you help maintain a safe workplace and ensure your team operates at a high standard. Please note: This position is based in our Smithers warehouse, and you must live in Smithers or the surrounding area.

Requirements

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Parts Technician certification.
  • A valid driver’s license is a requirement.
  • Experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, or materials management.
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices, HSE regulations, and hazard identification.
  • WHMIS and TDG certifications are mandatory. Company training is provided.
  • Ability to follow procedural workflows, solve practical problems, and improve methods through day-to-day observations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to listen, clarify expectations, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships and support team collaboration.
  • Commitment to safety and willingness to stop unsafe work.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience in an industrial or mining environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Smithers facility for all building or equipment services or repairs; sourcing and managing local vendors, contractors, and business partners.
  • Supervise warehouse activities to ensure safe and efficient receipt, storage, and issuance of materials while maintaining accurate inventory.
  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse personnel, including supporting Newmont’s sponsored apprenticeship program and training requirements.
  • Provide clear direction, allocate work, offer feedback, and recognize strong performance within your team.
  • Plan and schedule warehouse personnel to meet operational needs while managing labour costs.
  • Collaborate closely with site warehouse leadership to align with business unit strategies.
  • Administer HSE protocol training and monitor adherence to all regulations, and facilitate safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Newmont health & safety procedures and other applicable policies.
  • Maintain in-field Visible Felt Safety Leadership (VFSL) opportunities to promote safety initiatives, such as safety system verification checks.
  • Promote a positive, productive, and safety-focused team environment.
  • Maintain warehouse records using SAP and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Oversee compliance, governance activities, and audits to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Assist with all warehousing duties, where required.
