About The Position

As a Team Lead in the Renewable Development group, you will be responsible for managing a team comprised of engineers and engineering design professionals. A Team Lead’s primary responsibility will be the accurate, timely, and quality completion of Utility-Scale Renewable Engineering scopes assigned to the team. The group the Team Lead will oversee consists of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for primary Electrical and Civil and partial Structural scopes. The Team Lead will assist in the development of the departments Standard Best Practices (SBP’s) and enforcing/implementing them when pertinent. Team Leads will be a mentor and coach to employees on their team and help them grow individually as professionals. In addition, the Team Lead will be Client facing and responsible for communication internally and externally. This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred in certain instances
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
  • FE, PE is preferred
  • Experience with energy modeling using PVsyst
  • Experience with AutoCAD and preferred experience in PVCase
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project
  • Basic understanding electrical and civil engineering with specific emphasis on PV, BESS and Wind.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers and internal personnel; exercises strong intrapersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design environment
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving skills
  • Commercial understanding of the engineering or construction industries
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

  • Leads PV, BESS and Wind projects while mentoring and coaching engineers and engineering design professionals
  • Passionate about leading Engineer’s learning multi disciplines and multi technologies.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Renewable Development design team and relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Delivers preliminary PV, BESS and/or Wind design (0-30%). Project level of detail is greatly dependent on contracted scope. Design can include partial or all of the following: Meet the technical requirements outlined by the client and/or Owner, Creation of constraint file to determine initial project feasibility, Solar, PV, or Wind layout creation, Preliminary level cable and DC design, Preliminary level Civil grading and drainage, Provide high-level Bill of Materials for civil infrastructure, electrical material, and foundation quantities
  • Must be able to self-schedule preliminary design activities to meet deadlines set by external stakeholders
  • Various EE Studies (Load flow, ampacity, losses and/or short circuit)
  • Production estimates (Pvsyst)
  • Performs QAQC reviews and drive high quality within the team.
  • Works with Proposal team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to establish proposal pricing
  • Provides engineering & technical support to the other members of the Business Development & Project Services Team
  • Provides pre-sales technical support to customers and the NEI outside sales team
  • Develops and maintain outstanding company-client relationships
  • Ability to be an effective communicator and lead internal and external project calls.
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
  • Attends safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines
