About The Position

The Jean Tweed Centre is building capacity to transform the level of support for women with substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns. As a Team Lead, Mental Health & Substance Use (Cumberland House), you will provide on-site support with a team-based approach to case planning, consistent with evidence-based practices in the fields of mental health and substance use. You will support your team to manage crisis situations, conflict resolution, and risk assessments.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Social Work or relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in related field.
  • Previous experience working in a live-in treatment program.
  • Approach to leadership consistent with organizational values.
  • Knowledge and understanding of women’s issues, particularly as they relate to women with substance use, mental health and/or gambling concerns.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and conflict/crisis management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and collaborative working relationships with individuals and teams.
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent individual and group supervisory skills.
  • Administrative, project management and program development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the Residential Housing Program.
  • Oversee the maintenance of documentation, including discharge summaries and clinical notes.
  • Develop and implement programming in collaboration with the Supervisor and in line with the Agency strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate to develop programming in line with evidence-informed and best practices.
  • Represent the Jean Tweed Centre in the community.
  • Provide after-hours emergency coverage on a rotational basis.
  • Monitor the safety, health and well-being of the clients under the program care.
  • Train and supervise staff while on shift in the capacity of a Residential Counsellor.
  • Supervise, or support employees to supervise student placements and volunteers.
  • Work along side Residential Counsellors while on shift to provide guidance and leadership.
  • Conduct job responsibilities with a commitment to harm reduction, trauma- informed, women-centered and anti-oppressive practices.
  • Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Centre.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Centre.
