About The Position

This role involves operating filling and packaging equipment safely according to established procedures. The Team Lead is responsible for leading and coaching Machine Operators A, B, and C, assigning jobs, and ensuring quality and performance standards are met. The Machine A Operator role focuses on operating filling and packaging equipment safely and assisting in training when the Team Lead is unavailable. Both roles operate on a 1st shift, Monday - Friday, from 7 AM to 3 PM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment in a lead role; preferably automotive or bottling and packaging.
  • Must be able to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Must have the ability to perform simple math calculations.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ability to identify problems, troubleshoot, and train on specific production equipment.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and lead others.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be certified to drive all types of forklifts.
  • Ability to temporarily run manufacturing lines in the absence of a Team Lead.
  • Mandatory ability to react and move quickly in case of emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Operate filling and packaging equipment safely according to procedures.
  • Lead Machine Operators A, B, and C, assigning jobs and ensuring quality and performance.
  • Train and coach Machine Operators A, B, and C.
  • Assure a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Promote and follow all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Report any safety and/or environmental incidents immediately.
  • Perform manually and/or tend machines for various packaging functions (filling, labeling, packing, closing containers).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Perform machine adjustments, set-ups, changeovers, maintenance, cleaning, and general operation of various filling and packaging machines.
  • Identify problems, troubleshoot, and train on equipment including cardboard baler, plastic baler, filler, packaging robot, palletizer, RFID labeler, labeler, box erector, pallet jack, pick and place card/blister adjustments, taper/tape gun, and additional production equipment.
  • Validate and organize jobs in accordance with the bill of materials and special work instructions.
  • Conduct quality inspections of goods at correct intervals, ensuring product is packaged according to the work order and identifying/correcting quality issues.
  • Operate as a material handler if required.
  • Operate the mixing area if required.
  • Assist in training assigned full-time/temp operators and assist other teams as needed.
  • Coordinate and perform routine preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of production, labor, and scrap incurred during the shift.
  • Assist with MH, B, and C operator roles when needed.
  • Temporarily run manufacturing lines in the absence of a Team Lead.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
