About The Position

The Team Lead, Infrastructure is responsible for providing technical leadership and day-to-day coordination of The Summit’s infrastructure team while remaining actively engaged in the support, administration, and advancement of the credit union’s technology infrastructure. This position serves as the team’s senior technical resource for servers, networking, storage, cloud, backup, and communication systems and provides guidance, prioritization, and support to other team members. The Team Lead coordinates daily infrastructure activities, supports the assignment and completion of work, leads complex troubleshooting and escalations, mentors team members, and helps ensure established technology standards and service expectations are consistently met. The position requires advanced technical knowledge and experience with networks, servers, cloud technologies, system security, and enterprise infrastructure. Responsibilities also include infrastructure planning, hardware and software implementation, vendor coordination, technical documentation, disaster recovery, project implementation, and technical training. The Team Lead works closely with Technology management to identify infrastructure priorities, communicate risks and resource needs, and ensure the team’s work aligns with organizational and Technology objectives.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree preferred in technology or related field.
  • 5 years professional work experience required.
  • General level of knowledge of financial products and services.
  • Experience with people and IT project leadership.
  • Ability to translate and communicate complex technical information effectively to a non-technical audience and respond to questions in the same manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools such as Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and Zoom.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership, direction, and coordination for the Infrastructure team.
  • Assist Technology management with prioritizing, assigning, and coordinating team workload, projects, maintenance activities, and operational responsibilities.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Mentor and support team members in developing technical knowledge, troubleshooting capabilities, and understanding of infrastructure standards and procedures.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, knowledge sharing, and consistent technical practices across the team.
  • Monitor infrastructure-related tickets, assignments, projects, and operational activities to help ensure work is completed accurately and within established expectations.
  • Identify workload, resource, technical, and operational concerns and escalate them to Technology management as appropriate.
  • Provide technical recommendations to Technology management regarding infrastructure architecture, lifecycle planning, investments, risks, and priorities.
  • Coordinate team coverage for planned maintenance, projects, system upgrades, on-call responsibilities, and other infrastructure activities.
  • Assist with onboarding and technical training of new Infrastructure team members.
  • Coordinate and lead the installation, maintenance, configuration, and monitoring of network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, Internet, voice, and data communication systems.
  • Administer firewalls, switches, routers, wireless systems, and other network appliances to ensure appropriate performance, availability, and security.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex network issues and coordinate vendor escalations when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain network configuration standards and technical best practices.
  • Maintain thorough and current network documentation.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and test resilient network architecture and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery capabilities.
  • Coordinate with Technology and business teams to implement and monitor third-party network connectivity.
  • Identify network lifecycle, capacity, resiliency, and security needs and provide recommendations to Technology management.
  • Coordinate and lead the installation, maintenance, configuration, and monitoring of server, storage, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Support physical, virtual, hyperconverged, and cloud environments, including Nutanix HCI, VMware, Microsoft Azure, and related technologies.
  • Evaluate the impact of upgrades, patches, vulnerabilities, and configuration changes and coordinate implementation activities.
  • Administer server operating systems, primarily Windows with some Linux, to maintain appropriate performance, reliability, and security.
  • Design, configure, and maintain on-premises infrastructure including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services.
  • Design, configure, and maintain Microsoft 365, Azure, and other cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex server, storage, virtualization, and cloud issues.
  • Coordinate vendor escalations and hold vendors accountable to established service expectations.
  • Maintain thorough and current server, cloud, storage, configuration, and licensing documentation.
  • Lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and testing of backup and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery solutions.
  • Coordinate with Technology and business teams to implement and maintain third-party applications and infrastructure integrations.
  • Handle escalated and advanced technical issues from End User Support and other Technology teams.
  • Coordinate infrastructure changes and maintenance activities to minimize organizational and member impact.
  • Collaborate with Technology management and business teams to implement and support third-party applications and services.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce appropriate technical procedures, standards, and documentation for areas of responsibility.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for automation, standardization, and innovation to simplify processes, improve accuracy, reduce risk, and enhance employee and member experiences.
  • Maintain accurate support records, change documentation, and technical information within established ticketing and IT service management systems.
  • Support additional infrastructure including cabling, backup power systems, environmental monitoring, cooling systems, and related technology as needed.
  • Evaluate infrastructure products, solutions, and vendors and provide recommendations to Technology management.
  • Monitor vendor performance and coordinate resolution of service or performance concerns.
  • Participate in infrastructure capacity planning, lifecycle management, budgeting recommendations, and technology roadmap development.
  • Provide cross-training and technical guidance to Infrastructure, End User Support, and other Technology team members.
  • Participate in and help coordinate the Infrastructure on-call rotation.
  • Assist Technology management with ensuring adequate team coverage and escalation procedures.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with key technology vendors and service providers.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of current technology, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and operational trends.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable NCUA guidance, regulatory expectations, and industry standards related to areas of responsibility.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies through professional development, conferences, seminars, training, and industry publications.
  • Provide a positive example to team members and other areas of the credit union through professional interactions, collaboration, accountability, and leadership.
  • Participate in special assignments, projects, committees, disaster recovery exercises, and technology initiatives as requested by management.
  • Serve as a technical resource and infrastructure representative for organizational projects as assigned.
