About The Position

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced Team Lead Care Coordinator for the MDT Coordination Department. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Reporting directly to the Director of Coordination Services, the Team Lead Care Coordinator is responsible for case coordination of all child sex trafficking, human trafficking, and high-risk victim cases in Dallas County. The Team Lead Care Coordinator must have strong leadership and communication skills, be well organized, be able to implement coordination in urgent and crisis situations and be able to work with diverse teams. ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County. We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members. We are a national and international leader in the Children's Advocacy Center movement, recognized for our expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases; cutting edge clinical services and programs for the victims and their non-offending family members; and our community and professional training programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice or similar
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar role working at a child protective agency or child advocacy center.
  • Clear and valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Must successfully complete annual criminal and civil background checks.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Applications and client database management.

  • Knowledge of child development and family dynamics; knowledge of sexual abuse dynamics as it relates to victims and perpetrators.
  • Knowledge of the MDT (multi-disciplinary team)/CAC (Child Advocacy Center) model, DCAC’s investigative protocol, and emerging trends with the field of child abuse.
  • Effective in encouraging participation from stakeholders in the MDT (multi-disciplinary team) model and coordinating a joint response to concerns of abuse/neglect/child sex trafficking and high-risk behavior.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in high stakes situations with multiple partners/stakeholders for an effective plan that addresses the need of the minor who may be in crisis.
  • Ability to follow all investigative protocol procedures and be able to make critical decisions regarding the response continuum on a 24/7 basis regarding CST and HRY cases.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse community of stakeholders including law enforcement, CPS, the Dallas Juvenile DA’s Office, Children’s Health, DCAC staff, and clients/families.
  • Ability to manage the exposure to graphic details of abuse/neglect/sex trafficking/child fatalities
  • Ability to establish and maintain professionally challenging achievement goals and exerting effort toward mastering tasks and a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, coordinates, and facilitates the monthly service status meetings.
  • Runs caseload reports of Care coordinators, assesses current contact and status of youth on the care continuum and gives feedback on next steps.
  • Follows up with law enforcement (LE), child protective investigation (CPI) and other partners, as necessary, to ensure adequate service provision.
  • Works jointly with the Assistant Director of Coordination Services in the facilitation of dialogue with CPI, LE and DCAC coordinators related to identification of cases in need of forensic interviews, joint investigations, and case review.
  • Manages the day-to-day process of Child Sex Trafficking and High-Risk Youth (CST/HRY) external referral to access appropriateness for the care continuum.
  • Works jointly with the Assistant Director of Coordination Services to provide on-boarding and training to new Case Coordinators to ensure their understanding of the agency and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Receives and reviews statewide intake referrals of child sex trafficking as assigned and confirms that intakes meet care continuum criteria and refers youths for services.
  • Coordinates with investigative Partners (Child Protective Investigations and law enforcement) to ensure connections are made with a goal of securing a forensic interview for the child.
  • Maintains regular and on-going monthly contact with the Partners via email, phone or in-person, to monitor case progression
  • Maintains accurate and up to date documentation in the Apricot 360 client database.
  • Builds relationships with investigative agencies and service providers to strengthen working partnerships.
  • Ensures all identified cases meeting child sex trafficking/high risk youth criteria are entered into DCAC’s client database accurately and in a timely manager.
  • Receives and responds to crisis calls (on a rotating on-call basis) from referral resources and initiate protocol response for CST/HRY cases.
  • Communicates with DCAC programs to support a cohesive client experience by offering case coordination efforts as well as be a support to outside agency partners who also work with the same youth on the continuum of care.
  • Attends and participates in monthly care coordinator staff calls as well as the services status meetings.
  • Responsible for routing the statewide intake referrals of abuse or neglect which entails determining if the youth’s case meets the specified criteria for the Multi-disciplinary Team collaborative approach.
  • Works a rotating, on-call schedule, including nights and weekends for CST/HRY cases.
  • Complete Interpretation and Translation Training for DCAC Staff (required for bilingual (English/Spanish) staff.
  • Complete care coordinator training with the CSE-IT (Commercial Sexual Exploitation Identification Tool) screening tool utilized to assess at-risk youth for child sexual exploitation.
  • Completes MDT (multi-disciplinary team) training through CACTX.
  • Attends courses relating to child abuse and sex-trafficking as identified on an ongoing basis.
  • Attends and participates at DCAC’s annual Crimes Against Children conference in the capacity of a volunteer or participant to attend classes.
  • Participates and actively attend supervisory meetings and team meetings.
  • Attends and participates in agency staff meetings.
  • Participates in special events for children and families.
  • Compliance agency compliance training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
