About The Position

The function of the Operations Air Import Team Lead is to oversee the processing of all shipments, as well as the movement and monitoring while in route. Lead the handling of shipments ensuring compliance with DSV’s Corporate guidelines as well as government regulations. This role will have direct communication with customers, overseas offices and carriers is required. This role mentors and trains new staff as well as update internal and external process changes from time to time.

Requirements

  • Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment
  • Proven ability as a self-starter, with ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities to meet goals and achieve results
  • Good command of English language, both verbally and written
  • Above average customer service skills
  • Interpersonal skills that build respected professional relationships internally & externally
  • Demonstrated good leadership and management skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and punctuality

Responsibilities

  • Daily management and coordination of shipments
  • Lead and direct desk level, day to day operations of the Operation Department
  • Champion process and procedure to meet or exceed company KPI requirements
  • Establish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments
  • Prepare and publish reports as requested
  • Mentor and train new staff from time to time
  • Act as the first escalation point for operational and customer service issues.
  • Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solution
  • Responsible for cost containment of shipments
  • Evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of delivery
  • Daily Communication with customer on relevant issues and resolution
  • Manage new account implementation from standard operating procedure to execution
  • Ability to demonstrate deductive logic, problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Effectively deal with any issues that arise within scope of responsibility
  • Work with Management to continually improve department operations with focus on productivity
  • Will assign and manage workflow
  • Responsible for his/her team performance including staff development, recognition through daily desk level oversight, guidance and coaching
  • Perform another assigned task/responsibilities
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Ability to manage conflicts professionally and promote teamwork.
  • Provide operational coverage in the absence of the operator/supervisor.
