About The Position

The Community Group Teaching Fellows’ Program (Pre-K– 8) offers an opportunity to teach and learn, providing children with the tools they need to succeed in life. This program aims to equip fellows with the experience necessary to be hired as permanent classroom teachers, with many fellows being rehired after their year of experience and training. Fellows will learn from outstanding educational practitioners and become part of a movement to transform education. The program emphasizes the importance of the first few years of a child's education and aims to prepare children for lifelong success. Fellows will be involved in planning and delivering daily classroom lessons, providing small group instruction based on assessed learning needs, sharing classroom management responsibilities, and participating in parent conferencing. They will gain classroom experience under the guidance of experienced lead teachers and administrators in a collaborative environment. The role involves contributing to students' academic achievement, participating in high-quality professional development, and potentially earning additional stipends for leading after-school activities. There are opportunities for permanent teaching placement within The Community Group’s Charter School network. Responsibilities include co-teaching, team teaching, working with small groups for remediation or advanced instruction, parallel teaching, and teaching whole group lessons. Fellows will also conduct lesson preparation, student assessments, communicate with families, and support community service activities. Participation in all required training and professional development is expected.
