About The Position

William James College is seeking full-time Teaching Faculty Fellows for the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department, beginning August 2026. This Fellowship is designed to recruit, train, and mentor recent doctoral graduates, aiming to cultivate a diverse cohort of talented faculty. The program equips Fellows with skills for inclusive teaching, advising, research, and academic leadership. The College is experiencing growth and emphasizes the importance of high-quality behavioral healthcare, with a mission to advance applied psychology and develop compassionate professionals dedicated to expanding access to behavioral healthcare. Requirements

  • Recent graduates or early career professionals with doctoral degrees in Counselor Education and Supervision, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology (with a Master’s degree in Counseling).
  • Doctoral degree expected by August 2026.
  • If the doctoral degree is in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, candidates must have completed an APA accredited internship.
  • If the doctoral degree is in Clinical Psychology, candidates must have a Master’s degree in Counseling.
  • Degrees earned within the past 10 years (through August 2026).
  • Teaching and clinical experience.
  • Licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or as a Psychologist/Health Services Provider.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment.
  • Willingness to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and able to perform the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program preferred.
  • Doctoral degree in counseling or related area with at least one-year full time teaching experience in a graduate counseling program prior to July 1, 2013.

  • Interest in addressing disparities in behavioral health for unserved groups and underserved communities.
  • Demonstrated record of relevant scholarly work.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching, advising, and research supervision of graduate students.
  • Participating in didactic training on inclusive teaching and learning designs, strength-based pedagogical approaches, and culturally empowering instructional strategies.
  • Actively engaging in professional development, scholarly, and program evaluation activities.
  • Receiving faculty and peer mentorship throughout the program.
  • Teaching generalist foundational courses in the Counseling and Behavioral Health Department.
