About The Position

The OPP Teaching Assistant will provide hands-on teaching to OMS I students in the OPP lab component of the OPC 1 and 2 courses. This position provides a unique opportunity for OMS II students to contribute to the education of fellow students, gain teaching experience in osteopathic principles and practices, and review high yield concepts for second-year block examinations and NBOME/COMLEX board exams. The further development of interprofessional communication and teamwork skills are also notable benefits of the teaching assistant program.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of OPC I and II
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other teaching assistants, first-year students, faculty, and fellows, both written and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Participation as a teaching assistant for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters
  • Explanation and demonstration of all assigned osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) techniques being taught that week
  • Explanation of pertinent anatomy relevant to OMT principles and techniques being taught that week
  • Attendance at every TA meeting on Tuesday prior to Wednesday afternoon lab.
  • Reviewing OPP topics assigned each week before lab
  • Timely communication with fellows in the event of availability issues for lab that week
