About The Position

Avon Public Schools is seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to provide assistance to students under the direction of a certified teacher. This role involves small group instruction, behavior management, data collection, lesson preparation, and co-teaching. The successful candidate will be a member of a dedicated team, working within a tight schedule, remaining highly organized, and teaching specific strategies to address identified areas of weakness. This position is for up to 20 hours per week at $20.60 per hour, with no employee benefits.

Requirements

• Proper Connecticut teaching certification (Elementary Education) preferred
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of teaching reading at the primary level
• Ability to work within a tight schedule
• Highly organized
• Ability to successfully teach individuals and small groups very specific strategies to address identified areas of weakness

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the area of reading and mathematics remediation
