About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for a Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator position for ADST 5P00 in the Winter D5 BURLINGTON term. This role involves scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time, including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration. The position is paid according to the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, with rates varying based on the employee's degree qualifications. Employees without a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour, while those with such degrees will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The university is committed to offering flexible work arrangements where possible, but all employees are required to work on campus as needed. Requirements

  • Completed undergraduate degree in disability studies, psychology, child and youth studies, or related field
  • Previous completion of ADST 5P00 (or similar course) with a grade of >85%
  • Experience in the field of disabilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide constructive feedback
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet agreed upon deadlines
  • Available to attend in BURLINGTON and/or attend online synchronous and asynchronous course support – weekday/evenings/weekend
  • Experience using Brightspace or other learning management systems
  • Experience using video conferencing platforms (e.g., Lifesize, Microsoft Teams)
  • Available for online, email and phone office hours during the week
