About The Position

AoPS Academy is seeking a passionate Math Teaching Assistant to support instructors and students in an engaging, collaborative classroom environment. This role involves assisting with curriculum, providing one-on-one student support, helping with classroom management for up to 16 students, grading assignments, and fostering a love for learning and critical thinking. The ideal candidate is at least 16 years old, possesses strong math skills, has experience or interest in working with younger students, and demonstrates excellent communication and a positive attitude. Prior teaching experience is not required.

Requirements

Must be 16 years old or older
Possess strong math skills with the ability to help students navigate advanced concepts
Exceptional written and spoken communication
Positive and encouraging attitude that helps students feel comfortable asking questions
Detail-oriented and organized
Must be legally authorized to work in the US

Nice To Haves

Experience with/interest in working with younger students strongly preferred
Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is a plus

Responsibilities

Assist instructors with company-created curriculum and materials, helping advanced students grasp complex concepts.
Work one-on-one with students during class activities and provide additional help when needed.
Help maintain an organized learning environment and assist in managing up to 16 students.
Assist with grading and providing constructive feedback on student work.
Connect with students and staff members to encourage their learning journey and academic growth.
Help create an environment that promotes critical thinking and academic curiosity.
