About The Position

This position is for a Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor within the Department of Theatre for the course THE1501 A/B, Introduction à la pratique théâtrale : Les métiers des coulisses. The role involves supporting the course instructor in various capacities, with specific tasks to be determined and negotiated with the supervising professor. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The hiring process will adhere to the CUPE 2626 collective agreement. Requirements

  • B.A. with a specialization in theatre or a related field of study.
  • Knowledge of basic theatre production practices including backstage, stage management, lighting, sound, costumes, set construction, shop safety, first aid, production management.
  • Experience as a technician, stage manager, production manager, director, or actor in professional theatre.

Responsibilities

  • Specific tasks will be determined by the professor.
  • Support the course instructor in the delivery of the Introduction à la pratique théâtrale : Les métiers des coulisses course.
  • Negotiate and sign a description of work with the supervising professor prior to the commencement of work, detailing the allocation of hours to various tasks.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training offered by the University.
