About The Position

This position provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment for students assigned to the Construction Craft Laborer Carpentry shop. This position is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control; performs all other related work as required.

Requirements

  • High School graduate
  • experience in Carpentry required
  • knowledge and experience with hand and power tool safety
  • Demonstrates knowledge and use of materials and resources in accordance with the adopted curriculum and consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided
  • Demonstrates effective classroom management skills and provides for sound and effective techniques of instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating environment.
  • Assists the teacher in planning and preparation of daily activities.
  • Aids instructional efforts of the teacher, and grades and marking of papers.
  • May lead classroom activities.
  • Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
  • Supervision of students.
  • Prepares instructional materials and supplies for use.
  • Tutor students as directed.
  • Presents subject matter to students under the guidance of a teacher utilizing a variety of methods.
  • Assists students to set and maintain standards of appropriate behavior.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs of the students.
  • Implements the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
  • Is available to meet with students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning their educational and behavioral progress.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
