This position provides instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher. The role involves providing instructional support and intensive behavioral assistance to students diagnosed with developmental disabilities, including autism. Responsibilities include a variety of support activities related to behavior management, classroom instruction, and classroom management, as well as implementing learning and behavioral support plans. The position also involves clerical support duties, assisting the teacher, and demonstrating an understanding of behaviorally based instructional practices. Attendance at meetings is required, and the assistant will teach individual or small group lessons under the teacher's direction, prepare classroom provisions and learning materials, and supervise students in all environments. Additionally, the role involves assisting the teacher with their team role related to direct support professionals and supporting the team with positive communication strategies.
