About The Position
Togetherhood is expanding to the DC area and is seeking enthusiastic teaching artists to join their network. Togetherhood is a marketplace connecting passionate educators with schools and communities seeking enrichment programs. They offer opportunities in various fields, including arts & crafts, skateboarding, breakdancing, and STEM. The mission is to "infuse every community with high quality enrichment and education." They aim to support instructors in sharing their skills and passion with children.
Requirements
- Experience teaching school-age children
- Excitement, joy, and passion for both teaching kids and personal development/learning
- Ability to create a fun, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you teach
- Cooperative, supportive, flexible
- Dependable, proactive, and thrives when given autonomy
- Appreciates support and clear expectations
- Provide a resume showcasing relevant teaching experience
- If lacking formal teaching experience, share any other relevant experience or training in a cover letter or on the application questionnaire
Responsibilities
- Conceive of and create an age-appropriate curriculum for your class
- Create memorable experiences for the children in your class to help them grow and develop a passion for your subject
- Consistently arrive at your class on time (or early!), prepared with the lesson plan for the day
- Help children understand why your class subject is so wonderful and how it's helped shape you as a person
