About The Position

2nd Nature is a six-week summer program run by LAYC that serves 30 youth aged 14-18. The program focuses on creative tracks while also developing social-emotional skills, culminating in a group exhibition. The program aims to foster learning and community engagement through inquiry-based and project-based learning. Weekly field trips related to the creative tracks are included to inspire and provoke discussions. A public exhibition showcases the work created during the summer. The program is seeking dynamic and engaging individuals to support it from late June to early August. The Art + Media Track specifically aims to develop youth's creative abilities in Visual Art (drawing, painting, mixed media), Digital Media (photography, graphic design, music production, radio production), or Performance (theatre, spoken word) while exploring a shared community theme. Youth will create work reflecting their learning on chosen topics and issues, with a final public installation and performance at the program's conclusion. Teaching Artist positions are available in visual art, digital media, or performance.
