About The Position

The Teaching Artists / Sunday School Teachers include Lead and Assistant Teaching Artists who provide teaching, care, and support to the children of Marble Church’s congregation and staff. The Teaching Artists / Sunday School Teachers report to the Director of CYF. Marble Collegiate Church is located on Fifth Avenue and 29th Street in New York City. Clearly and warmly communicate with children, parents and staff
Have experience working with children of all ages
Work Sundays. Regular shifts are 9:30am to 12:30pm

Responsibilities

Feed, change diapers, soothe when child is upset, fully interact (Infants)
Change diapers/help with toileting needs; fix small snacks; help children through separation anxiety; support children’s participation in arts activities; fully engage through conversation, play, structured activities (Toddlers)
Teach and support children’s participation in structured lessons and activities, manage the class for brief periods, clean-up the classroom after class ends (Children in Sunday School)
Check-in all children with a strict eye on special needs and allergies
Assist with children and families when engaged in worship activities and performances (ex: anthems and speaking on the chancel, special events, ushering, etc.)
Provide warm and professional interactions with our children, parents, and staff (All age groups)
Plan and teach Sunday school lessons (Lead Teaching Artist)
Manage the class, including any behavior challenges (Lead Teaching Artist)
Support children during choir rehearsal (Lead Teaching Artist)
Promptly communicate concerns about children and families to Director of CYF (Lead Teaching Artist)
Provide mentorship and training to congregational volunteers when needed (Lead Teaching Artist)
