About The Position

The Teacher will be responsible for developing lesson plans that ensure the attainment of state learning and common core standards. This role involves using computers and technology to assist students, adapting and enriching the curriculum with multiple strategies and online tools to engage students, and demonstrating information, media, and technology savviness. The teacher must be able to see the potential in emerging tools and web technologies and manipulate them to serve students' needs. They will develop classroom experiences that teach students not only facts but how to apply learning to solve real-world problems, and guide students to develop broader competencies for success in the 21st century. The role requires providing ample opportunities for students to develop 21st-century skills in activities outside the classroom and creating engaging and empowering learning experiences for all learners, utilizing learning data and tools. The teacher will be fully connected to content, resources, and systems to create, manage, and assess learning experiences for students both inside and outside school. General school and classroom responsibilities include understanding and abiding by the Academy’s philosophy and mission statement, focusing on student-centric, holistic learning, and teaching about how to learn. The teacher will model tolerance, global awareness, and reflective practice, and prepare instructional lesson plans, administer standardized tests, and maintain accurate student records (grade books, report cards, attendance, behavior/discipline). Confidentiality concerning student information and professional matters is essential. The teacher will collaborate with staff to improve student learning, deploy sound classroom management techniques, and engage in collaboration with colleagues, replacing solo practitioners with a model of "connected educators." Positive working relationships with students, parents, school personnel, and the public are expected. Required participation in school activities includes staff meetings, open houses, chaperoning student activities, providing guidance, serving on faculty committees, and helping resolve school problems. The teacher must follow all corporate and Academy policies and procedures, participate in professional development, maintain Highly Qualified Teacher status, and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and Management Company.

Requirements

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
Certification/Licensure in appropriate teaching area
NCLB Highly Qualified
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient in computer applications
Knowledgeable in use of web resources, online tools, technology tools, etc.
Effective organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks
Satisfactory completion of local, state, and federal criminal history check and TB test.

Guide students to develop the broader competencies increasingly important for success in an ever more demanding world of 21st Century Skills.
Provide ample opportunities to all students to develop 21st century skills in activities outside the classroom such as student organizations, physical activities, and service learning.
Create engaging and empowering learning experiences for all learners.
Be fully connected to learning data and tools for using the data; to content, resources, and systems to create, manage, and assess engaging and relevant learning experiences; directly to their students in support of learning both inside and outside school.
Understand, accept, and abide by the Academy’s philosophy and mission statement in all his/her school activities.
Focus on student-centric, holistic learning and teach about how to learn as much as teaching about the subject area.
Model tolerance, global awareness, reflective practice, and model the behaviors expected from students.
Prepare instructional lesson plans as directed.
Administer all standardized tests as directed.
Keep accurate records on each student such as: grade books and report cards, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior/discipline records.
Maintain confidentiality concerning all student information and any professional matters.
Work with staff to improve student learning and achievement.
Deploy sound classroom management techniques.
Engage in collaboration with colleagues demonstrating a model of “connected educators” – this replaces solo practitioners (sage on the stage) and develops positive working relationships with students, parents, school personnel and the public.
Attend and/or participate in school activities as directed by the Principal such as: staff meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, chaperone student activities, provide guidance for students, participate on faculty committees, study and help resolve school problems.
Follow all corporate and Academy policies and procedures.
Participate in professional development workshops/programs.
Maintain status of Highly Qualified Teacher as per federal definition.
Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the Principal and Management Company.
