About The Position

This position is for the 2026-2027 School Year. The Teacher will plan lessons, choose instructional materials, and use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the diverse needs of students. They will implement instructional programs according to district and state guidelines, manage time effectively for student instruction, and create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning. The role involves collaboration with other teachers, evaluation of student academic performance, and communication of student progress to parents and guardians. The Teacher will also work with school staff to identify and meet individual student needs, participate in professional development, and support student special needs. They will work with the principal on professional growth opportunities, practice and support student safety during drills and emergencies, and maintain updated inventory records of classroom materials. Additionally, the Teacher will supervise students during school and school-sponsored events, administer various tests and assessments, and play an active role in curriculum development and implementation. Record keeping according to state law and district policy is also a key responsibility, as is serving on school committees and accepting responsibility for co-curricular activities. Establishing cooperative relations with others, adhering to the professional code of ethics, and participating in peer reviews and teacher leadership activities are expected. Technology integration to support the curriculum is also a part of the role. The Teacher will be evaluated by the Principal and/or district level administrator. Employment terms include days and salary pursuant to district salary schedules.

Requirements

  • College diploma
  • Certification from Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board in area(s) for which person will be teaching
  • Strictly adheres to the Kentucky Certified Code of Ethics (704 KAR 20:680)
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, written language, and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light objects and students up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere with consistent standards in the classroom that is conducive to learning
  • Collaborates with other teachers and contributes as a member of school and district professional learning communities
  • Evaluates academic performance and progress of students regularly
  • Communicates student performance and progress to parents and guardians following school and district guidelines
  • Work with all school staff to meet and identify the needs of individual students
  • Participates in professional development and follows guidelines and accommodations for student special needs
  • Works with principal and others to obtain and practice professional growth opportunities
  • Practices and supports safety of students during drills and emergencies
  • Maintains updated inventory records of classroom material and follows guidelines in appropriation of supplies needed for the instructional program
  • Supervises students during school and school sponsored events
  • Administers student diagnostic, achievement, and other tests and assessments following district and state testing guidelines and regulations
  • Plays an active role in developing and implementing curriculum related to standards
  • Inputs, calculates, and maintains all necessary records according to state law, district policy and administrative regulations
  • Serves on school committees related to the selection of instructional materials and school improvement
  • Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others
  • Adheres to professional code of Ethics for certified personnel and all board policies
