About The Position

The AUSL Teacher Residency Resident Teacher position is a one-year training position that provides a training stipend, financial aid, and reduced tuition cost to become a full-time teacher. This position is for career changers looking for an accessible opportunity to become a full-time teacher. The AUSL Teacher Residency is a nationally recognized, one-year teacher training program that helps career changers and recent graduates earn their Illinois teaching license and work in traditionally underrepresented schools. Since 2003, AUSL has prepared more than 1,600 resident teachers through a proven cohort model, graduate‑level coursework, and in‑classroom experience alongside mentor teachers.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree at the start of the program
GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
U.S. Citizen, national, or permanent resident

Earn a master’s degree from DePaul University in just one year at a reduced tuition cost
Gain 1,000+ hours of classroom experience with a supportive mentor teacher
