About The Position

Teaches appropriate grade level standards based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Personal Development to diverse elementary students, following District Literacy Program and Everyday Math or other school/District approved curriculum. This position is for an active CO PERA retiree and works only 110 days or 720 hours per calendar year. Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
  • DPS accepts a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction and carries out a teacher's lesson plan in classrooms as assigned
  • Organizes students for effective instruction and learning while maintaining classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students
  • Motivates student learning and academic participation while ensuring the integrity of academic time
  • May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.
