About The Position

This position is for a Teacher (PK 1-3) and focuses on providing quality, developmentally appropriate social and learning experiences for young children, along with support and information for parents. The role is contingent on external funding and/or contract availability.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and put down up to fifty (50) pounds on a continuous basis.
  • Repeated lifting and placing down of children required.
  • Successful completion of the FDLE Background Screening.
  • Must complete prior to the first day of employment the on-line Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training (4-hour course).
  • Must complete within ninety (90) days of hire the state mandated Early Literacy for Children Birth to Three childcare trainings (5-hour course).
  • Complete yearly in-service trainings provided by the NSU University School Preschool.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Major (if required: In field or 12 credits in field
  • None. (Required Experience)

Nice To Haves

  • Valid State of Florida Certification Certificate.
  • Master's Degree.
  • One (1) year of successful experience in teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement an appropriate curriculum.
  • Establish an enriching, safe, and clean classroom and playground environment.
  • Demonstrate effective class management.
  • Design and develop learning materials.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with participating parents and coworkers.
  • Fulfill work obligations including: promptness, staff meetings, open house attendance, and parent orientations.
  • Complete state mandated child care training in the first year of hire.
  • Attend and complete designated in-service training's provided by MSI, in addition to yearly in-service training hours mandated by the state of Florida.
  • Maintain a professional posture regarding program participants, co-workers, and administration.
  • Other duties as assigned.
