About The Position

Luzerne County Head Start is seeking dedicated Teachers to join their team. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities, managing the classroom, and fostering a positive learning environment that promotes school readiness. The anticipated start date for this position is for the August 2026-2027 school year. All staff must possess current, valid Background Clearances and proof of degree/certification and experience to meet qualifications.

Requirements

  • AA Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • BS Degree in Early Childhood Education with PA Certification in PK-4
  • Instructional I Needed (Required for PreK Counts classroom assignments)
  • Current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations.
  • Proof of Degree/Certification and Experience Required to meet the Qualifications for position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Language abilities, English/Spanish, a plus
  • Bilingual Abilities Preferred (Eng/Spanish) – 5% additional pay

Responsibilities

  • In accordance with curriculum philosophy, developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on children’s abilities and interests.
  • Plan and implement educational activities to include managing the classroom and planning activities according to the curriculum that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Evaluate and record children’s progress and communicate with parents on a regular basis.
  • Provide and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices.
