About The Position

Luzerne County Head Start is seeking dedicated Teachers to join their team. This role involves planning and implementing educational activities, managing the classroom, and fostering a positive learning environment that promotes school readiness. The anticipated start date for this position is for the August 2026-2027 school year. All staff must possess current, valid Background Clearances and proof of degree/certification and experience to meet qualifications.

Requirements

AA Degree in Early Childhood Education
BS Degree in Early Childhood Education with PA Certification in PK-4
Instructional I Needed (Required for PreK Counts classroom assignments)
Current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations.
Proof of Degree/Certification and Experience Required to meet the Qualifications for position.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual Language abilities, English/Spanish, a plus
Bilingual Abilities Preferred (Eng/Spanish) – 5% additional pay

Responsibilities

In accordance with curriculum philosophy, developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on children’s abilities and interests.
Plan and implement educational activities to include managing the classroom and planning activities according to the curriculum that are developmentally appropriate.
Evaluate and record children’s progress and communicate with parents on a regular basis.
Provide and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices.
