About The Position

Hyde Park Day School (HPDS) is the leading educational program in the Chicago metropolitan area dedicated exclusively to bright students with learning disabilities. We are currently seeking a passionate, patient, and dedicated Teacher to join our Northfield Campus. Our students, ages 6 to 15, have average to above‑average intelligence but require specialized instructional strategies to succeed academically. Unlike traditional learning environments, we admit only students with moderate to severe learning disabilities and screen for behavioral and emotional concerns-ensuring classrooms are focused, supportive, and designed for success. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in elementary/middle school education and/or a core content area at the secondary level
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Orton‑Gillingham instruction

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized attention to students in small instructional groups.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art instructional and assistive technology.
  • Collaborate with a robust clinical team (speech pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers) to create comprehensive learning plans.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including working with instructional coaches and ongoing training.
  • Teach students with moderate to severe learning disabilities.
