About The Position

The Estill County Board of Education is seeking a Teacher for Estill Springs Elementary. The primary goal of this position is to establish a learning situation for students that meets the needs of each student at their own level, fostering their greatest intellectual, emotional, and psychological development, in alignment with the Estill County School System's Mission Statement.

Requirements

  • Valid and appropriate Kentucky teaching certification.

Responsibilities

  • Attends work daily, being in prompt attendance, and remains on duty as specified.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the environment and student needs.
  • Implements instructional programs and initiatives as established through district guidelines.
  • Plans lessons based on state and/or national standards and uses appropriate instructional materials.
  • Manages time wisely to maximize student instruction.
  • Guides the learning process toward curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, communicating these to students.
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Maintains a consistent standard of student behavior and learning, adhering to the Student Code of Acceptable Behavior and Discipline and the school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system.
  • Evaluates student academic and social development regularly, maintaining records and providing progress reports to parents/guardians.
  • Communicates with parents regularly through conferences and other methods.
  • Participates in professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on the Continuous Improvement Cycle.
  • Works with qualified school staff to meet and identify the needs of individual students (physical health, mental attitude, learning disabilities).
  • Establishes an on-going system for professional growth through professional development programs, job-embedded learning, and individual activities based on a Professional Growth Plan.
  • Maintains updated inventory records of classroom materials and requests necessary supplies.
  • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Supervises all students under their direction at all times, including extra duty assignments.
  • Adheres to the Professional Growth and Effectiveness system according to state laws, regulations, and the district Certified Evaluation Plan.
  • Administers required student assessments according to district & state testing guidelines.
  • Takes responsibility for assessment literacy in the classroom.
  • Gathers dependable and quality information about student achievement and uses it effectively.
  • Plays an active role in curriculum development.
  • Keeps all necessary records according to state law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Serves on school and/or district committees as assigned.
  • Shares responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Attends all open house events, parent/teacher conferences, and other professional meetings required by the principal.
  • Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
