About The Position

Luzerne County Head Start (LCHS) is seeking dedicated Teachers to join their team. This role involves developing and implementing educational plans, managing classrooms, evaluating children's progress, and fostering a positive learning environment. LCHS requires staff to possess current background clearances and proof of degree/certification and experience. The position follows a school schedule from August to June annually, with a summer break.

Requirements

AA Degree in Early Childhood Education
BS Degree in Early Childhood Education
PA Certification in PK-4 Instructional I Preferred (Required for PreK Counts classroom assignments)
Current, valid Background Clearances (3) per state/federal regulations.
Proof of Degree/Certification and Experience Required to meet the Qualifications for position.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual Language abilities, English/Spanish, a plus

Bilingual Abilities Preferred (Eng/Spanish) – 5% additional pay

Responsibilities

Develop appropriate lesson plans based on children's abilities and interests in accordance with curriculum philosophy.
Plan and implement educational activities, including managing the classroom and planning developmentally appropriate activities according to the curriculum.
Evaluate and record children's progress.
Communicate with parents on a regular basis.
Provide and maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices.
