About The Position

Work with the Agricultural Science students, parents, community, principal, instructional specialist, and the Director of Career and Technology Education to coordinate the Agricultural Science program and mission within the framework of the philosophy, goals, and policy established by the Board, within the statutes and standards of regulatory agencies, and in accordance with administrative regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Possess or be eligible for a valid teaching certificate for Vocational Agricultural Science.
  • Possess a valid Texas driver’s license, and be capable of attaining Bus Driving Certification.
  • Possess basic computer skills as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Teach multiple Agricultural Science courses as assigned on campus.
  • Be willing to attend certification classes as deemed necessary by district personnel.
  • Develop and support student leadership and judging teams, which will require frequent travel.
  • Lead and coordinate FFA Chapter activities.
  • Work with multiple teachers both at the campus and district level.
  • Supervise student projects (SAEP’s) including those at the KISD Project Center and student homes.
  • Coordinate assigned tasks as related to Katy ISD Progress Show and the Katy ISD Livestock Show.
  • Interact effectively with FFA Booster Club.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of programs and projects as required by law, District policy, or administrative regulations.
  • Exhibit and encourage high professional and ethical standards.
  • Support, communicate, and interpret District goals, policies, procedures, and directives to the staff under his/her direction and supervise their implementation.
  • Professionally communicate and interpret District goals, policies, administrative procedures, and TEA regulations to the various publics.
  • Maintain a positive image of the school by involving community members, business and industry, and agencies in a supportive role.
  • Attend Agricultural Science teachers’ meetings as scheduled.
  • Submit necessary forms in a timely manner: including, but not limited to travel, student trip forms, itineraries, project visitations, etc.
  • Supervise Agricultural Science projects and student teacher(s)
