Teacher/Varsity Football Offensive Coordinator (INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY)

About The Position

Provide students with appropriate in-person and distance or virtual instruction in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and abilities to excel in football. Contribute to the education program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in football. Oversee the growth and progress of the entire program district wide from middle school to high school in offense, defense, or special teams. Each coordinator will work directly under the head football coach and will implement each phase of the program that they are responsible for under the direction and following the philosophy of the head football coach.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices for online learning
Strong knowledge of Internet and web-related technology
Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop relationships and maintain consistent contact with student, parents, and colleagues
Ability to support students with computer set-up, navigation, and technology issues
Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodical, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and responds to questions from administrators, peers, students, parents and the general public.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Knowledge of subjects assigned.
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.

Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required

Responsibilities

Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person, distance, and virtual learning that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of student assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
Provide timely feedback to students and track progress through a variety of methods.
Conduct ongoing assessment and feedback related to student achievement through formal and informal methods.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Be a positive role model for students and support the goals of the campus and school district.
Create an in-person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, students, and/or parents.
Communicate with students or parents on a regular basis via phone or video conference, email, or district-approved website.
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Maintain confidentiality.
Participate in meetings and special events as assigned.
Exercise professional judgment in absences; be punctual to work, meetings, and appointments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).
Develop, teach, and implement a fundamentally sound offense, defense, and special teams to both the assistants and players. This includes organizing and having meetings with both the coaches and the players.
Analyze the technique and responsibilities of the entire offense, defense, and special teams as well as delegate additional responsibilities to the assistant.
Scout the opponent and develop an offensive, defensive, and special teams game plan to defeat the scheme of the opponent.
Develop academically, physically, mentally, and emotionally strong players.
Direct all media inquiries to the head football coach.
Communicate with the administration, teachers, staff, and students.
Respond in a timely manner to parent concerns.
Develop relationships with colleges and universities for player advancement.
Develop excellent assistant coaches.
Motivate the student-athletes to want to play for the program.
Possess a rigorous work ethic.
Other duties assigned by the head football coach.
