About The Position

FLIPANY is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Teacher / Supervisor to lead its Arts, Wellness & Academics (AWA) afterschool program in Deerfield Beach. This role involves serving as the instructional leader and on-site supervisor for a grant-funded program that integrates academics, physical activity, nutrition education, social-emotional learning, and creative arts. The program aims to help children thrive by providing nutritious food, promoting healthy eating, and encouraging physical activity, while also incorporating life skills to strengthen emotional well-being and resilience.

Requirements

  • Must meet at least ONE of the following: Active or expired U.S. teaching certificate (any state), Minimum 2 years of verified, active K–12 teaching experience, Completion of the first two years of a four-year teaching degree (transcripts required)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum 2 years working directly with K–5 students in an educational or youth development setting
  • Current in-person CPR/First Aid/AED certification (online-only not accepted)
  • Strong classroom management, instructional facilitation, and team leadership skills
  • Comfort with technology tools for documentation, attendance tracking, and communication
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Must pass a Level II background check prior to start

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Haitian Creole a plus

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, evidence-based instruction using the PATHS social-emotional learning curriculum and CATCH Kids Club physical activity program.
  • Lead the daily Homework Assistance block and facilitate enrichment activities spanning arts, nutrition, soccer, math, and mindfulness.
  • Adapt programming to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with IEPs or additional support needs.
  • Provide daily direction, coaching, and instructional guidance to Youth Counselors on-site.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment throughout all program hours.
  • Serve as the on-site supervisory lead, working closely with the Program Manager.
  • Build genuine, positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and the program team.
  • Identify students who may need additional support and coordinate with program leadership on accommodations.
  • Serve as a warm, professional representative of FLIPANY at every interaction.
  • Oversee student attendance, arrival, and dismissal procedures.
  • Maintain program documentation and compliance records in accordance with grant and BASCC standards.
  • Support safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and facility readiness throughout the program day.
