The Transition Teacher of Special Education is responsible for providing appropriate special education services specific to transition for eligible high school students in accordance with Federal and State regulations and School Board policies and procedures. This role involves collaborating with special education leadership, working with businesses to establish worksites for students, and providing job coaching services. The teacher will assist students in obtaining employment-related skills, monitor their progress towards postsecondary goals, and provide direct instruction in transition-specific classes. Key responsibilities include teaching resume writing, interviewing skills, job application completion, and postsecondary option exploration. The position also requires communication and collaboration with students, staff, families, and adult services organizations, as well as participation in IEP meetings and the development of transition plans. The teacher will also conduct transition assessments, collect data for state requirements, and coordinate transportation for students.
