The Special Education Resource Teacher at Crismon High School is responsible for leading students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating district curriculum goals and objectives into individualized learning experiences. This role involves planning and implementing a program of study that meets the unique needs, interests, and abilities of students, utilizing effective teaching techniques and materials. The teacher will monitor and assess student progress, provide feedback to students and parents, and diagnose and address specific student needs, seeking assistance from district specialists when necessary. A key aspect of the role is creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity and interests, while also developing and implementing reasonable classroom rules for behavior and procedure. The position aims to foster person-social adjustment, decision-making skills, positive self-image, and other life skills in students. The teacher will promote the district's philosophy and policies, communicate professionally with colleagues, students, parents, and the community, and assume legal responsibility for student supervision. Continuous professional development and the ability to perform duties under stress are also expected.
