Provides special education consultation and instruction to meet the needs of eligible students with disabilities. Communicates with campus staff, district special education staff, and parents/guardians regarding student needs, including ARD paperwork, IEPs, BIPs, and general progress. Prepares documents and attends ARD/IEP meetings for students eligible for special education. Completes local, state, and federal paperwork required for program participation. Develops instructional programs for eligible students to achieve mastery of essential knowledge and skills. Collaborates with regular education teachers and related service staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs and to assist in providing an appropriate education for eligible students. Administers criterion-referenced testing. Keeps current and applies state-of-the-art educational practices. Oversees the responsibilities of the paraprofessional in implementing student programs, including training in data collection and implementation of specific instructional strategies. Collects and maintains data related to student progress and grades. Reports progress on IEP goals/objectives and grades as stipulated by district policy and ARD documents. Provides appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students. Completes state assessment requirements for eligible students. Communicates regularly with general education teachers and parents/guardians regarding student progress/needs/concerns. Maintains confidential student records and audit folders. Attends district-required and job-specific trainings and staff development. Provides Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
