About The Position

This position involves teaching special education students with autism. The role requires modifying curriculum, providing individualized instruction based on IEP goals, and fostering a positive classroom environment. Collaboration with school leaders, staff, parents, and the community is essential for student success. The teacher will utilize data to continuously improve the instructional program and ensure students meet academic expectations. Knowledge of NJSLS and NJSLA is required.

Requirements

  • Must hold appropriate New Jersey instructional certificate for the position K-6 and a Students with Disabilities Certification or Teacher of the Handicapped Certification.
  • Experience working with students with special needs.
  • Ability to modify curriculum and provide individualized instruction based upon IEP goals and objectives.
  • Ability to motivate and work in teams to achieve academic expectations.
  • Able to work collaboratively with school leaders and school staff to collect, analyze, and use data to continuously modify the instructional program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, parents, administrators, and the community.
  • Ability to provide a nurturing, supportive and positive classroom climate that encourages student responsibility, using positive motivation, clear classroom routines and effective classroom management skills.
  • Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA.
  • Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others.
  • Must be computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software.
  • Excellent classroom management.
