About The Position

A Middle School Social Studies Teacher delivers standards-based instruction in their subject area, supports students’ academic and social development, and fosters a positive, engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and growth.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is required.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Teaching License - Required.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
  • Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Observes, evaluates, reports, and records student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Prepares lesson plans and materials according to District approved curriculum guidelines.
  • Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying needs and learning styles.
  • Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
  • Prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
  • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavior and academic problems.
  • May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.
