Teacher's Assistant
About The Position
This position follows the school year calendar, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. There are also opportunities to work during school vacations and summer break. The role involves working alongside the Lead Teacher to create a safe, healthy, structured, and nurturing environment. Responsibilities include engaging with children in learning activities such as reading, playing, and having fun, inspiring them to be lifelong learners, and partnering with families. The position also requires using an electronic daily tracking app, assisting with the accreditation process and other quality initiatives, and implementing curriculum and assessments.
Requirements
- Experience working with children.
- A personal demeanor that is warm and friendly.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Organized and able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Team-oriented and willing to work with others.
- High school diploma (or equivalent) or higher.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting).
- Visual and hearing acuity.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must pass national criminal background/fingerprints check.
- Must pass Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS).
