About The Position

The Teacher's Aide plays an important role in supporting the educational success of students at Red Top Meadows. This position works closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and residential staff to provide academic support, classroom assistance, and individualized instruction for students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. The ideal candidate enjoys working closely with adolescents, building positive relationships, and helping students stay engaged and successful in school. Because of the size and nature of our program, this position requires flexibility, collaboration, and a willingness to support students wherever needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with adolescents in educational, residential, behavioral health, or youth-serving settings.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible, patient, and supportive in a dynamic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Current teaching certification or paraeducator experience.
  • Experience supporting students with learning, behavioral, or emotional challenges.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and relationship-based approaches.
  • Experience providing academic intervention or individualized student support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teachers with planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons across content areas.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support based on individual student needs.
  • Assist students in accessing instruction through accommodations, modifications, and individualized strategies.
  • Help maintain a structured, positive, and respectful classroom environment consistent with Red Top Meadows' therapeutic approach.
  • Supervise and support students during academic activities, school events, and educational outings.
  • Assist with school-wide projects, experiential learning opportunities, and community-based activities.
  • Build positive relationships that promote student engagement, confidence, and accountability.
  • Model effective communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and academic persistence.
  • Help students navigate challenges while maintaining high expectations and consistent support.
  • Collaborate regularly with teachers, therapists, and youth care staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and interdisciplinary treatment team discussions.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the education team.
  • Assist with implementation of IEP accommodations, intervention plans, and individualized student supports.
  • Support documentation and progress monitoring as directed by the education team.
  • Provide classroom coverage and additional student support as needed.
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative, student-centered school culture.
