About The Position

Provide dyslexia intervention to identified students and conduct dyslexia assessments. Communicate with campus staff, district special education staff, and parents/guardians on information pertaining to student needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Special Education Certificate, Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT) or Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT)
  • Required Reading specialization
  • Four plus years of experience teaching reading
  • Ability to communicate the evidenced based dyslexia program and student progress to parents.
  • Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible, including student confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
  • Ability to adhere to local, state and federal guidelines in the delivery of service to eligible students.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters preferred
  • Training in Dyslexia Intervention Program, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidenced based dyslexia program with fidelity to eligible students.
  • Collaborate with regular education teachers and special education staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs and to assist in providing an appropriate education for eligible dyslexia or related disorders students.
  • Participate in MTSS, Section 504, and ARD committees to collaboratively make decisions about dyslexia.
  • Administer and interpret comprehensive dyslexia assessments.
  • Attend on-going staff development in the area of dyslexia and related disorders as appropriate.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Collect, maintain, and report data related to student progress.
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and IEPs.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Ability to communicate the evidenced based dyslexia program and student progress to parents.
