About The Position

The Sugarbush Day School is seeking enthusiastic and reliable team members to support our childcare program during busy weekends and holiday periods throughout the winter season. We welcome applicants in a variety of roles, including Teachers, Student Support Staff, Interventionists, and other childcare professionals. Successful candidates must commit to working 10 full days throughout the winter season, primarily on weekends and holidays. All hires must complete a childcare background check and fingerprinting, which is separate from the Agency of Education (AOE) screening that many applicants may have already completed. In return for your commitment, you will receive a Sugarbush Resort season pass with full mountain access, plus the opportunity to purchase heavily discounted passes for family members ($99 for spouses and $50 per child). Sugarbush Day School is a year-round childcare facility. We provide care for local families and resort employees throughout the year, as well as non-recurring childcare services for resort guests during the winter season. This position pays $18/hour for the first season participating in this program.

Requirements

• High school education or a combination of education and experience from which equal skills and knowledge are acquired.
• Three references in childcare.
• One completed course in Early Childhood or Human/Child Development and at least 1-year experience in a childcare center.
• Specialized skills in some form of activity applicable to children's interest and the school's programming.
• Well-developed customer service skills.
• The ability to handle customer complaints and special requests and interact effectively with customers and coworkers.
• Commitment to working 10 full days throughout the winter season, primarily on weekends and holidays.
• Completion of a childcare background check and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program for each day.
• Carry out planned activities implemented by the Room Leader.
• Feed the children according to schedule set forth.
• Ensure that the equipment used daily, and facility (room area) are cleaned thoroughly and remain a safe environment at all times.
• Be familiar with emergency procedures.
• Ensure that children are supervised at all times and in compliance with Non-Recurring Childcare guild lines.
• Provide opportunities for sleep and rest.
• Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable in.
• Implement positive discipline when needed.
• Clearly and effectively communicate with the children and other staff members.
